General Questions

What is a 3D Space?

A 3D Space is a complete three-dimensional representation of a space, which lets you “walk” through the space to experience it as if you were there.

What do I need to view 3D models?

Most current computers running the latest version of Windows or OSX, and the latest version of Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer can view the Matterport Showcase. There have been some issues reported with Chrome.  We recommend Firefox for Android mobile.  Any viewing problems are usually resolved by confirming both the operating system and browser are up to date.

What sets us aside from others?

How is a 3D Model from The Company different from a typical panoramic photo or a Virtual Tour? 

A panoramic photo depicts a space from one fixed viewpoint and lets you turn left or right. A 3D Model and Tour has “immersive” technology and lets you “walk” through the space to experience it as if you were there. We factor in user experience and strategically calculate every scan location.

What are tags?

Tags highlight key features and details about the space. When a viewer’s mouse hovers over or clicks on a tag, a window appears with a short text description of the tagged feature, object, or area. As an added service, we can embed content in this window or link it to external sites and media (such as Facebook posts or YouTube). 

Do you capture rental properties?

Yes. Since rental properties require continual hosting, annual hosting plans are available. Please contact us for pricing.  

What areas do you cover?

For real estate and retail spaces, we cover the metro Atlanta area and its surrounding counties. For wholesale showrooms, we also cover every major market center within the continental 48.

Preparation for Scan Questions

Will your photographer prepare the area prior to shooting?

The photographer will open and close blinds, turn on and off lights, and other small finishing touches. Prior to our arrival, the area should be clean, staged and in presentable position. First impression is a powerful tool, and a clean well-staged space will present a better user experience. We will provide a checklist to help you prepare your space for the best 3D experience.

Do you do twilight shoots?

Yes – we work with you to fit a schedule that works for both parties. Some spaces are captured best during sundown, we are flexible and work with mother nature.

What if I Need to Cancel or reschedule?

Sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances that prohibit us from being able to capture your space on the scheduled date and time. Our 3D service agreement will define a reasonable window for written notice of rescheduling without penalty. If written notice is given after said period, there will be a small rescheduling fee.  Cancellations can be made at any time. However, the initial deposit is non-refundable and will be forfeited if you choose to cancel. 

What is your refund policy?

We do not have a refund policy. Initial deposits are non-refundable, and the remaining balance will be paid at time of delivery. Feel free to give us a call at (678)-467-4740. If you would like to schedule a consultation. 

During Scan Questions

What is captured in the tour?

Anything that is visible when walking through the space will be captured in the tour. Any personal or confidential items that you do not want to be featured in the model should be removed prior to our arrival. If you do not want something captured, please place it out of sight in a closet or in a cabinet. In addition, if there are rooms that you do not want captured please notify us.

Do you shoot closets, bathrooms, and laundry rooms?

Yes. We believe in scanning every part of the property in order to capture the most complete scans. We can hide scan locations, but we must capture as much of the physical space as possible. Scanning theses spaces allows for a complete 3D rendering.

Do we have to be present during the scan?

We do ask that someone is there to let our team in. However, we prefer no one to be present for the duration of the shoot. This will minimize the risk of a person entering and compromising a shot. We will then lock up after the shoot.

How long a does a shoot take?

In order to capture the most complete model, we typically take 45 minutes to 1.5hrs per 1,000 square feet. Much of this time depends on the layout, furniture, number of floors etc. We prefer to estimate jobs at 1.5 hours per 1,000 square feet.

Do you shoot exteriors such as the backyard or pool areas?

Yes. However, this is a little tricky in areas of direct sunlight. Depending on lighting conditions, we do know a few tricks that will allow success in shooting outdoor spaces. We can also shoot 360 outdoor spaces which are not part of the Matterport model and viewable in the highlight reel.

Is special lighting required?

No. Since our technology uses HDR (High dynamic range) photography to balance dark and light areas of an image, no special lighting or lighting equipment is required. 

What if the weather is bad on the day of my appointment?

In most cases, we can still capture the interior of your space and return to capture outside shots as soon as weather is permitting. However, we understand that weather is a variable outside of our control and will work with you to reschedule the capture of your space due to inclement weather.

Post Scan/Billing Questions

Can I host the tour on my company’s website?

Yes. Your virtual model will be hosted in cloud based servers and you will be able to embed the virtual model on your website.

Can you edit the virtual model?

There is limitation to what we can edit after a tour is created. We can cut lines to define outside areas and delete scans if needed. We cannot edit the actual imagery itself. We can share with you .obj or .xyz file that can be downloaded and provided free of charge to be used within CAD software.

When will I receive it?

In most cases for residential and commercial real estate, turnaround takes about 2-3 Business days from shoot date/time. We do our best to finalize your space as fast as possible. For wholesale showrooms, turnaround depends on the amount of added services and the size of the showroom. 

How long does my 3D tour stay active and available to the public?

We can host your space as long as you would like. Hosting is billed at a monthly rate of $19.99, unless an active promotion is available. 

Can still images be extracted from the 3d showcase?

Yes. These photos are in JPG format at 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.
